Medium: Multimedia textile: sheets, paint, pencil, sleep masks, loofah, thread
Dimensions: size 14-16

Artist Statement: Gowns, by design, are a symbol of class and opulence, and elegance. Couture or avant garde gowns, even more so. This one, made in a "men's" prison from state-issued sheets, paint, pencils, sleep masks, loofahs, and a ton of thread, proves you can belong on a red carpet on a discount store budget. But beware, all that glitters is not gold. This gown defies the design by leaving a plethora of exposed threads throughout. While the gown is wearable, and made in size 14/16, you may want to wear a slip underneath to avoid catching any of the exposed threads inside. I hope you enjoy this gown and shawl combining feathers, scales, and the human form to create something truly beautiful that defies the laws of nature (and some may say, fashion).

Image description: A hand-made gown made of painted fabric in red orange. The top of the gown is sleeveless with a scalloped cut, and is painted with a pattern of scales. The skirt of the dress is made of orange overlapping feather shapes, made from painted fabric. It has a corset back and a tag sewn in that says K-Love Designs. It’s size 14-16. There is a matching shawl in the same hues of reds and oranges that is patterned and cut like a pair of wings.
