Artist Statement: The DOC is designed to take our peace and happiness. It is also designed to keep us ignorant in certain ways.This piece promotes peace, love, happiness, and knowledge. The women are in DOC clothing to represent the lack of individuality in prison. However, they each are wearing different headwear to show their individuality. These are the same things that us women here do to "buck the system" as it were.
