Jason vs. Freddy Comedic Strip by Roman Ellis
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Dimensions: 14.5 x 16.5

Artist Statement: An interpretation of artworks by master artists; with a twist of my own touch... This painting is a replica of my favorite 2 childhood shows. I do Art because it's my way of changing the reality around me in prison. I started painting because a guy told me I couldn't do it and that didn't sit well with me. So I picked up a brush and some paint and started coming up with some Amazing pieces that shocked me and caught the eyes of fellow inmates; WHO told me that my abstract way of painting fitted me. My Art is Freedom, it makes me feel Frustrated, Sad and Confused at times, but it Amazes me in the End. I Envision my Artwork being shared across the world because my artwork is my passageway out of these Cold walls of prison. If I needed one word to describe my art, it would be: Mystic.

Image description: Acrylic painting bordered in colored panels in red, black, and blue. In the center of the image, two iconic horror characters are facing off, Freddy on the left and Jason on the right. Freddy has a pocked and reddened face, is wearing a brimmed hat, and is showing a hand wearing a glove fitted with blades at the fingers. Jason is wearing a mask with only an eye visitble, and is holding a machete. Below them reads “Freddy vs. Jason.” A dialogue is written in bubbles on the side panels: Jason says “Fred… What happen to your face and hand blade?” Freddy: “I know. It’s the new artist! He sucks!!” Jason: “Sh sh sh, Ha ha ha.”
