Artist Statement: As prisoners we often dream about being free but we also dream about much, much more. We dream of the responsibilities we'd like to fulfill if given the opportunity. Not long ago I came across an old issue of [the "Daughters"] magazine. The title really hit me hard. I've always wanted to be a father, but because of my sentence, I may never get the chance. [This painting is] a version of what I dreamed to experience at some point in life - seeing my own little girl hugging her teddy bear.
