Hope by Heather Lavelle

Hope by Heather Lavelle

This piece represents my life before incarceration and during incarceration and the hope I have for one day being free.

Medium: Construction paper and markers

[Image description: The piece is broken up into three vertically oriented rectangles. The first is yellow with a small drawing of a stick figure with a hat looking down to a stick figure with a brown face on the ground in front of a road below text that reads, “Addicuted, Abused, Hated, Angry, Afraid, Lost.” The second rectangle is orange and in the center there is a stick figure with a brown face cramped behind bars. Surrounding that image are the words “Rejected, Oppressed, Restricted, Isolated, Abandoned, Forgotten.” The final rectangle is green with a stick figure with brown hair surrounded by yellow lines. Below the image is the text, “Free, Sober, Redeemed, Awake, Healed, Strong.”]
