Medium: Mixed media (graphite, acrylic, mylar and collage on illustration board)

Size: 11.5 in x 9.5 in

Artist statement: The words in this piece are drawn from a book entitled Poetics of Relation by the philosopher Édouard Glissant. In this book, ideas of opacity and transparency help us visualize how we can cultivate mutual understanding and respect. We can find common ground as human beings without demanding that the worlds of others fit our own language. We all deserve the right to be more than those who see us might understand.
