Untitled by Al Depiro
Medium: Collage – paper, glue, and plastic
Size: 24 x 36
Image Description – Collage primarily featuring nature scenes (mountains, ponds, waterfall, forests, florals, butterflies). The upper left features white flowers trailing down over a green leaf with a caterpillar, and below that a grey image of sheep and a cut out poem that reads “RISE LIKE LIONS AFTER SLUMBER / IN UNVANQUISHABLE NUMBER, / SHAKE YOUR CHAINS TO EARTH LIKE DEW / WHICH IN SLEEP HAD FALLEN ON YOU- / YE ARE MANY – THEY ARE FEW.” The middle of the left side has a jagged line of red and orange flowers sitting over an image of a mountain, which sits behind a line of indigenous peoples on horses riding the edge of a black and gray moth wing. The bottom left features a corner of a green leaf like that the caterpillar is sitting on, a bunch of pink and orange flowers, and some water and a picture of rounded shaped sand castles.
