Artist statement: “This was part of a line for fashion show depicting an insects life cycle. This dress represents a larva, or grub. It is a young insect, only patches of its future self can be seen. The panels were hand woven and felted, and the straps are the warp strings of the woven bodice, combed out and sewn to hang gracefully over the shoulders.”
