Artist statement: “Taking Flight is about crossing over the high and dark mountains of past. The owl is a symbol of wisdom and something I think we all should strive to obtain along the way. The owl is taking flight away from the past with a look of determination in his eyes not letting anything outside his line of sight distract him. The rocks are for all the supportive people along the way keeping their prayers focused on rebuilding. The wings outside the border show there is nothing blocking what the future may hold.”
