Artist statement: Nora Smith (they/them) is an educator, learner, and mixed media fiber artist. Nora is inspired by children’s picture books, nature, and rich textures. They have lived in Pittsburgh since 2016 and work in early intervention and youth mental health. Youth today must see queer educators and professionals in workspaces in order to find hope and belonging. This piece hopes to remind people of any age that the future is full of beauty, regardless of your identity. That there is hope for us all to find freedom and belonging.
