To the Moon and Back by Leslie Stem
Medium: brass, copper, silver
Artist statement: “Corresponding via mail has been very meaningful to me, especially when living far from loved ones and I often hear about how it is a true lifeline for those incarcerated. The design of these earrings was taken from a vintage pair I saw. I recreated them to contain meaningful correspondence that one can keep with them, making them a memento, reminder, mantra, token of affection, locket, or talisman to the power of human connection.”
Image description: A pair of earrings depicting brass envelopes with a copper heart set in a pair of silver wings on the flap. The flap opens to reveal/hold snippets of small writings. The earhook has a small silver stamp with a copper heart.
