Throughline by Diane Kuthy

A painting with a light colored ground that has traces of modulated pink and bluish gray. The surface is sanded and polished which makes it look aged. There are two thickly painted white horizontal lines that are parallel and stand out across the surface. The lower line narrows on the right. In the lower right hand corner there is a black rectangle which appears beneath the lower white opaque line. Appearing on top and perpendicular to the white lines are three blocks of color(yellow, orange and salmon red) that form a thick line. There are blue, green, gray and red blocks of color that form a curved line like a hook and another straight line. The blocks of color are arranged and assembled like a quilt. The variation in the surface and overlapping of the blocks create a thick atmosphere where some elements are clearly seen and others are submerged and hidden.
