Artist statement: “My name is Khalil Hammond and I am a prisoner; housed in long-term solitary confinement; using art and creative writing as a release of thoughts, ideas, and emotions. This year’s piece for the theme “This Is Me” is a metaphoric representation of the cycle of life and all that aids the gradual development of a person (“seed”).”
